Defective Product Claims Against Essure
Essure is a permanent birth control device manufactured by Bayer HealthCare. It consists of 2 coils and is placed directly in the urethra via a simple surgical procedure. The device provides contraception by blocking eggs from moving through the fallopian tubes so that fertilization cannot take place. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the device for use and sale in 2002. However, the device’s manufacturer was later cited by the FDA for violations of postmarket regulations.
